ModuBrain Technologies

Think Modular.
Explore Smarter.

A modular platform that bridges RC chassis (Car / Tank) and commercial metal detectors without hacking their electronics: assisted exploration, telemetry, safety, and find logging from a web interface.

Why ModuBrain exists

Many detectorists already use RC vehicles to cover ground; the hard part is reliably integrating the detector’s audio, safe motion, and useful find records without locking into one detector brand or one chassis.

ModuBrain is a non-invasive link: your detector stays the same; the rover adds traction, peripheral sensors, and a software layer that can grow toward cloud AI when it makes operational sense.

What it is (and isn’t)

It is

  • A central HUB with a web UI in Wi‑Fi access-point mode (phone or tablet).
  • Pluggable modules (power, proximity, navigation, GPS) per the prototype architecture docs.
  • Strong focus on safety: obstacles, current draw, battery, link loss, clear field alerts.
  • Find logging with a path to future server sync (on the roadmap).

It isn’t (yet)

  • A replacement metal detector: the commercial detector remains the sensing source.
  • A finished retail product: we are in prototype validation and field testing.
  • A single-brand lock-in: the architecture aims for broad compatibility within realistic limits.

Prototypes & status

Prototype 004 — field-tested

Arduino Uno R4 WiFi · reference firmware v1.1.x

Web control with responsive commands and near-real-time state, acoustic metal detection, TF‑Luna LIDAR with servo for obstacle alerts, power monitor (voltage/current), battery thresholds, and safety tuned for outdoor use (sunlight-readable UI, Wi‑Fi heartbeat ~2.5 s, etc.).

Prototype 005 — assembly in progress

ESP32‑S3 as main MCU · architecture doc v2.0

Move to ESP32‑S3, WM8960 audio, Holybro PM02 power module, MB‑1043 SONAR (replaces 004 LIDAR), optical flow + IMU for NAV, M10 GPS. Goal: same control and safety philosophy on next-gen hardware with a foundation for server integration and NVS (non-volatile storage on chip).

Parts mounted; wiring and target firmware bring-up still ahead.

Two communities, one project

Detectorists & clubs

We want to know whether RC + detector + logging solves a real problem: terrain coverage, ergonomics, reliability, and respect for local detecting rules.

If you post in forums or associations, share the link—questions and feedback help us prioritize firmware and UX.

Engineering & robotics

Embedded stack (ESP32‑S3), sensors, PWM, ADC, I2S audio, Wi‑Fi, safety, and later backend and sync. Project documentation aligned with prototypes and architecture decisions.

We want serious conversations with people who want to co-build, not one-off curiosity.

Vision (no unnecessary hype)

Roadmap sketch: solidify 005 hardware, stabilize firmware, intensive field testing, then a private ModuBrain server to accumulate finds (with consent) and improve interpretation models. AI will help where it truly adds value (e.g. context estimation), with traceability and user control.

Senior engineering and drive to ship?

We value demonstrated experience in embedded systems, robotics, or hardware/software product, and real bandwidth for long-term ownership. This is not a generic job post: we’re talking vision fit and a possible co-founder role after we get to know each other.

Email a short note on your background and what interests you about ModuBrain. We reply when we can give it proper attention.

FAQ

Can I buy a ModuBrain?
Not yet. We’re in prototype and validation mode. Any future product will be announced clearly.
Will it work with my detector?
The architecture targets acoustic capture (line in, Bluetooth, microphone) depending on the detector and setup. Real limits depend on the model and testing.
Is it open source?
Licensing and repos will follow the business model. This site explains the project and connects community and partners.
Why RC instead of walking with the detector?
Coverage, sweep speed on large areas, and repeatable patterns—always within local law and good practice.
